After practicing self-defense for three days, she now became more aware of her safety. Syangbo, who teaches at Setidevi Basic School located in Jugal Rural Municipality-3, plans to teach the self-defense art she has learned to school children.

"I learned self-defense art from a self-defense instructor for three days. Since then, my confidence has increased, I have become very confident about my safety, I have become clear about how to stop an attack," she said, showing the two "steps" to stop an attack.

Rachna Shrestha, a teacher of Kalidevi Secondary School of Jugal Rural Municipality-4, knows about the way to counter attack while stopping the attack. Like Syangbo and Shrestha, Lakshmi Lama of Jugal Rural Municipality-5 said that she felt empowered after going to self-defense for her own defense and learned about the nature of violence against women. "I also know how violence happens without being seen, now I understand everything deeply," Lama said.

According to Rupak Dulal, volunteer of Bagmati Pradesh Yuva Parishad, 20 female teachers of 10 schools in Jugal rural municipality have been given self-defense training. Resham Syangbo, chairman of Jugal Rural Municipality, said that teachers were prepared for self-defense by teaching various sports such as Taekwondo, Karate and Martial Arts.

"With self-defense training, all teachers have been given awareness counseling about indirect and direct sexual violence," he said. A three-day women's self-defense training was given under the financial support of Jugal Rural Municipality and Halesi Engineering Multipurpose Pvt Ltd.

The self-defense training, which was inaugurated on Friday with the slogan 'Enriched Jugal with Social Justice', was completed on Monday at the Hotel Inn of the district headquarters, Chautara. District Police Sindhupalchok Deputy Superintendent of Police Umashankar Yadav along with District Coordination Committee Sindhupalchok Sitamaya Bulun and Parvarti Paudel gave the training. According to him, various physical exercises have been taught to avoid the increasing incidence of rape and sexual abuse. At the initial stage, activities such as how to avoid attacks, defense against sensitive organs, and other activities have been trained.
