An awareness campaign has been started by building fire lines to reduce the increasing number of fires in the community and other forests of the district.

On Tuesday, Bhakta Bahadur Shrestha, a green volunteer, forest activist, representative information officer of Division Forest and the community started the campaign by building fire lines in two touristic community forests. According to Sharda Prasad Chalise, a green volunteer operating from Division Forest Office Chautara, a fire line was constructed in Kalleri and Gauranti community forests here on Tuesday due to the community's activism. 

Earlier, the forest fire in Chautara Sangachokgadhi Municipality-6, which is known as the tourist forest area of ​​the headquarter, was brought under control by the green volunteer team. "A campaign has been started in other forests to clean the fire line construction site and return it to its original condition. Before this, after the increase in fire incidents, awareness was spread everywhere," he said. 

According to District Police Sindhupalchok, 82 hectares of forests in half a dozen forest areas including Bhotekoshi, Tripurasundari Rural Municipality and Jugal, Lisankhu Rural Municipality under Gaurishankar conservation center have been destroyed by fire.
