Testing of 'Kailash-Baikunth Zipline'

Makwanpur's 'Kailash-Baikunth Zipline' was tested on Saturday. The first phase of the newly built 'Kailash-Baikunth Zipline' was tested in Kailash Rural Municipality-2 Baikunth. The municipality claims that it is probably Nepal's first zipline built from its own budget.

A 1,200 meter long zipline connects the two hills of Kailash and Baikunth. After the operation of the zipline, it is expected to become a destination for tourists from Rorang, Benighat, Gajuri rural municipality of Dhading and Thaha Nagar, Raksirang, and Manhari villages of Makwanpur. Due to the border with Dhading, there is a road network of about 33 km from Benighat, Thahanagar, and Manhari Bazar to reach the zipline site . In the first phase of the testing of the zipline, the braking system (Solop) has been tested.

Zipline technician and trainer Vadriya Ghimire said that the zipline will be fully operational after the second phase of testing. Village Chairman Lok Bahadur Moktan said that after the completion of the first and second phase of testing, the zipline will be put into operation with the new year. ``At the place of going up and down the zipline, infrastructure including toilets are yet to be built. We will build it soon,' he said .

A zipline has been constructed to connect the two religious and touristic hills of Kailash and Baikunth. Sandhya Construction Services has done the construction work under the contract of 88 lakh 56 thousand rupees. The construction company signed the contract on March 2, 2080, and the time period has been fixed to complete the construction by March 30, 2081.

Even though it is in a remote settlement, the construction company completed the construction work within the specified time, said the technicians of the village. Zipline was operated 4 years ago by the private sector at Makwanpurgarhi in Makwanpur district. It is now closed . There is no zip line anywhere else in the district.
