Chautara Sangachokgadhi municipality of the district has reached ward after ward and honoring the families of the martyrs has been started remembering the martyrs' sacrifice. According to TN Sapkota, coordinator and leader of Sindhupalchok Representative Assembly 1 Coordination Committee, the martyred families of Chautara Sangachokgadhi Nagar Ward 2 and 3 were honored on Wednesday.
Sapkota, who is also a member of the Maoist Center Bagmati Provincial Secretariat, said that this campaign was started in remembrance and appreciation of all the martyrs who got help in the people's war and those who went missing because of the war. "Current changes and equality have become possible because of the martyrs, that's why we have started this campaign, we have honored by wearing dosalla and also given a gift of water-drinking rice," said Sapkota.
On Wednesday, the families of the martyrs Ganesh Bahadur Thapa, Vishnu Parajuli, Babukazi Dhungana, Homanath Dhungana and Ged Bahadur Basnet of Ward 2 and 3 of Chautara Sangachokgadhi Nagar were honored.
He informed that Wednesday is Sacrifice Day 081 for the People's War and this whole week will be considered as Martyr's Week by going to the house of Martyr's family in Nagbari. "This Holy Martyr's Sacrifice Week campaign will continue throughout this week, we will go all over the city and remember the martyrs and honor and congratulate the martyrs' families," said Sumit Kafle, head of YCEL Sindhupalchok.
A community building has been built in Kuvinde in the name of the martyred family. Locals here have started a campaign to honor the martyrs by collecting pictures of them from all over the village and keeping them inside the building. Apart from this, a pillar has been erected in the memory of the martyrs and the missing in Chautara Bazar, the district headquarters. Sahidbhoomi Kuvinde is the village of former Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota, Federal Member of the House of Representatives 1 Madhav Sapkota.
According to Prem Nepal, a relative of the martyred family, there are families of those who have received assistance like Nepal and Sapkota in Kuvinde village. He said that only 21 people from Kuvinde got martyrdom in the People's War. Seven members of the family of former Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota had to die from the state side just because they had faith in the then CPN.
'21 got help, but the situation of the disappearance of two people has not yet been revealed, remembering that incident feels like a complete wound, everyone here feels pain,' he said. According to the gazette published on February 29, 2019, a list of one hundred and eighty-five martyrs has been published across Sindhupalcho.
