On the occasion of the 43rd Foundation Day of Nepal Magar Association, Magar Day was celebrated in Hetaunda on Thursday. Rally, food festival, cultural programs were organized on the day.

 

Inaugurating the program organized at the square of Hetaunda sub-metropolitan city-4 Hoopra, Mayor Meenakumari Lama said that after the establishment of democracy in the country, all castes and religions have got an opportunity to move forward. She urged all castes to learn their language and culture as ethnic identity will be in crisis if language and culture disappear.

Ashok Saru Magar, a central member of Nepal Magar Association, while discussing the sacrifices made by the Magar community in the transformation of the country, said, 'Even now, the Magars have not reached the level of policy making. The Magar community was used in various movements but was deprived of opportunities.' In the

program, dances such as ghantu and kaura were presented and various food items eaten by the Magar community were kept. Women dressed in Magar community costumes and  The man went around the city with a tableau .

Nepal Magar Association was established on February 15, 2039. According to the 2078 census, the Magar population in Makwanpur is  It is 20 thousand 837 .
