Journalist Bhuparaj Pathak of Chitwan passed away. Journalist Pathak, who was suffering from blood cancer and tuberculosis, passed away this morning during treatment at BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital in Bharatpur.
Pathak, a resident of Madi-4, Simrahani, was confirmed to have blood cancer on 21 December by the teaching hospital in Maharajganj, Kathmandu. After that, he was taken to Rajiv Gandhi Hospital in India for further treatment.
After there was no further improvement, he was treated at a cancer hospital in Bharatpur. Public financial support was also collected for his treatment. Pathak, who is a member of the Chitwan District Working Committee of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists, the president of the Blind Youth Association of Chitwan, the vice president of the Madi City Apang Utthan Samaj and a communicator of the community radio Madi, is also known as a journalist who reads news in Braille.
Pathak made his name as a folk singer and comedian along with being a teacher working in Madi's Diwakar Smriti Secondary School. Earlier, Pathak's mother was also taken to New Delhi for treatment last year after being diagnosed with cancer.
