On the occasion of Sonam Lhochar, a large cultural program has been organized in Kavre's Khanikhola Rural Municipality. On the occasion of Sonam Lhochar, a cultural and religious festival of the Buddhist Tamang community, Nepal Tamang Ghedung Khanikhola Rural Municipality Committee organized a program on Tuesday with the support of Khanikhola Rural Municipality located in Dandapari of Kavrepalanchok.
Saral Sahayatri Paudel, member of Bagmati State Assembly, while addressing the program, said that the preservation of culture is a matter of current priority. According to him, it is now necessary for the Tamang community to unite and move forward to protect it. He expressed the commitment that the provincial government will have support and cooperation to protect it. In the
program, Village Chairman Indra Bahadur Thing expressed his commitment that he has been conducting various programs for the preservation of art and culture of all communities in the municipality and will continue in the future. Local and national level artists performed in the program.
According to Manjushree calendar, this year's Sonam Lhochar is 2861 Dul (Sa Pukhri) Lho. According to the date, it falls on 17th of January. The executive meeting held on January 7 of Khanikhola Rural Municipality has given a public holiday to celebrate Lhochar festival. The municipality has decided to give holidays until the 16th, 17th and 18th.
