Makwanpur police have arrested a young man with marijuana. The team deployed from the area police office Manhari stopped and checked the Bolero pick-up vehicle No. B.P.06-001 Ch 0062 coming from Rakxirang Chainpurat towards Hetaunda in Manhari rural municipality-8 Simpani which is under the East-West highway and found 81 kg of marijuana.
The police seized the vehicle and the driver, 22-year-old Chhetup Thing of Makwanpur Kailash Rural Municipality-4, with marijuana. Marijuana was hidden inside the rear trunk of the vehicle by making a falsatom and packing it in plastic. Deputy Superintendent of Police and Spokesman Shyamu Aryal said that the thing seized by the police is being registered in the marijuana case and further investigation is underway.
According to the Makwanpur police, from July of the current year to the 9th of January, 3 thousand 960 kg of ganja, 40 kg of hashish and 539 grams of brown heroin have been seized. Deputy Superintendent of Police and Spokesman Aryal said that Makwanpur police arrested 114 people including Nepali and Indian nationals during this period on charges of drug dealing.
According to the data of District Police Office Makwanpur, last year police arrested 250 people including 21 women on charges of drug trafficking and filed a case. During that period, Makwanpur police seized 3,962 kg of ganja, 13 kg of opium, 78 grams of heroin and 150 kg of hashish.
