A new house for the flood-affected Thapa couple

The 87-year-old Dil Bahadur Thapa couple, who were affected by the flood, have been able to live in a solid house after 31 years. His family is surprised to be able to live in a new house with facilities.

Karki Foundation located in Hetaunda sub-metropolitan city-4 purchased 8 dhur of land in Hetaunda sub-metropolitan city-15 Sikharpani and built a concrete house with two rooms with kitchen and toilet and handed it over to the Thapa family in a ceremony on Tuesday.

The Thapa couple, who walk with the help of a cane, shed tears of happiness to live in a comfortable concrete house. Dil Bahadur's 69-year-old wife Radhika also shed tears of joy upon entering the house. She happily thanked Karki Foundation director Dheeraj Karki for building the house. 'We didn't have a place to live,' said Radhika, 'may God always watch over you, never suffer.' ' 

After the flood of 2050 washed away all the houses in Ambhanjang of Makwanpur, they became squatters. The Thapa family, without power and access, did not get any relief from the government at that time. The Thapa family, who were wandering after becoming Sukumvasi, lived in a row house on another's land in Hetounda Upamahanagarpalika-4 Kamaldanda. There is a son with this family who is living on social security allowance. He is also unemployed. The daughter is married.

Karki Foundation built a house for the Thapa couple, who were living in a narrow house with a lot of sunlight. Karki, the director of the foundation, which constructed the building at a cost of 29 lakh rupees including the land, said, "It cost 16 lakh rupees for the land and 13 lakh rupees to build the house. 29 lakh rupees."

He said that he was very happy to build a house and hand it over to the elderly Thapa couple. The house handover program was attended by Sunil Moktan, Ward President of Hetaunda Sub-Metropolitan City-15, Ramakrishna Koirala, Ward President of 16 and others.
