The 15th Chitwan Festival has started on the banks of Narayani River in Narayangadh. The festival started from Thursday with the exhibition of commercial and industrial goods.
The festival organized by Chitwan Industry and Commerce Association will last for 15 days. Minister of Industry, Commerce and Supply Damodar Bhandari while inaugurating the festival said that the government is preparing to change many laws to increase domestic and foreign investment.
'Due to government structure and political complexity, domestic or foreign investment has not been able to increase. "We are preparing to remove policy complications at once to create an investment-friendly environment," he said.
He said that investment and production are prohibited because the current laws are restrictive and prohibitive in nature. He assured that procedural complexity will be removed by creating a simplified law.
'Public procurement act, land acquisition, forest environment etc. Dozens of laws which are obstacles to internal and external investment, we will bring simplified laws by replacing them. So that foreign investment can be increased rapidly," said Minister Bhandari.
Ministry of Industry is preparing to amend the Industrial Professional Act, Company Act, Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Act through super fast track, he said.
With the aim of increasing economic activity, the Chitwan Industry and Commerce Association has been holding a festival every two years since 2053. Suman Kumar Shrestha, chairman of the Chitwan Industry and Commerce Association, said that there are 430 stalls in the festival premises. Exhibitors from China, Bangladesh and Pakistan have also come to the
festival. As part of the festival, a food festival will also be held in Narayangarh Campachour from January 29th to January 4th to promote traditional food.
Organizers expect a turnover of 300 million rupees at the festival where five lakh spectators will watch the festival. Before the opening of the festival, a procession with cultural tableaux of different caste communities came out.
