81-year-old Chetkumari Devkota of Rautahat Chandranigahpur, who had lost her sight for 6 months, has regained her eyesight. Head of Community Eye Hospital Hetaunda Dr. Sunil Thakali removed his blindfold on Sunday morning. He first saw his daughter-in-law Devaki who was standing in front of him.
"When I saw the eyes, I grew stronger. It is a great thing to be able to see the world with your children and grandchildren,' she said, 'It is not always like it was when you have to live in darkness day and night. God-like doctor showed his eyes.
Daughter-in-law Devaki had brought him to the eye hospital in Hetaunda for cataract surgery. Chetkumari, who was active in farming and housework, became dependent only on the support of her family after both her eyes were closed.
Hetaunda Community Eye Hospital performed free surgery on 330 cataract patients on Saturday. 329 people were operated on only one eye, while Chetakumari was operated on both eyes.
Daughter-in-law Devaki was as happy as Chetkumari after the lost light of both eyes returned after cataract surgery. She said that after the mother-in-law sees her eyes, it will be easier to do housework and farming. Sudhir Shrestha, manager of Hetaunda Community Eye Hospital, said that 330 cataract patients from Bara, Parsa, Rautahat, Mahottari and Makwanpur were operated on in this hospital on Saturday.
To identify cataract patients, 330 cataract patients were found in free camps in Bara, Parsa, Makwanpur, Rautahat. Manager Shrestha said that they were brought to the eye hospital in Hetaunda for surgery and were operated for free.
Chet Kumari's eyes were examined in an eye camp conducted in Rautahat's Chandanigahpur. Established 16 years ago, nearly 9 lakh people have availed services from Hetounda Community Eye Hospital. The hospital said that 60,000 people have been operated on and their eyes have been restored.
