After 35 years, Bhimsen Jatra has been conducted in Dhulikhel of Kavre. Bhimsen Jatra, which is celebrated on the day of Marg Shukla Purnima, has been celebrated again from this year.
The Bhimsen Jatra, which has been celebrated by Bhimsen Guthiyar since ancient times, was stopped for 35 years due to financial management and various problems. It has been restarted from this year with the aim of continuing the Jatra by gathering local youths saying that art and culture should be protected. Urbin Makju, the club's representative, said that the Jatra has been continued due to the activity of Sikhlapur Youth Club Dhulikhel for its protection and management and with the support and coordination of the locals of Dhulikhel.
According to Bekulal Kapali, a 58-year-old local, the Jatra begins with worship at the monastery in Dhulikhel on the day before Marg Shukla Purnima. On the same day, Ranga Bali is offered at Bhimsen temple located in Dhulikhel-7. An invitation is given to the Mulghar to worship the idol of Bhimsen for the Jatra. Bhimsena Jatra begins on the day of Marg Shukla Purnima by performing the main puja to Bhagwati and Harisiddhi in Dhulikhel. Kapali said that in the Jatra, Bhimsen and Drapati will be placed in a chariot and the market will be circumambulated from the Bhimsen temple located in Dhulikhel-7. As Bhimsen is also considered as the deity of business, it is believed that traders worship Bhimsen with special faith. Starting from Bhimsen temple located in Dhulikhel-7 and reaching Ganesha temple in Chochhen located in Dhulikhel-6, immersion is done.
