The author of this chotila poem is 32-year-old Navraj Neupane of Sunkoshi rural municipality-1 Thokarpa village, who is known as 'cancer fighter poet'.
Now he keeps humming this part of the poem . Navraj, a poet who excelled in English, went to schools in remote areas and became an English teacher with the goal of teaching children. With the same plan, he worked very hard in school and campus studies . But, where is life going to be as we think? So I went abroad to avoid the financial crisis, suddenly I was diagnosed with blood cancer,' Neupane said, recalling the past, 'I returned to my own country after the doctor told me that I would die. And I started to write poetry, thinking to rise above it and live when the cancer was leading to the last moment.' He flew to Malaysia in 2067 with the plan to come home and become a teacher after fulfilling his dream of earning for his family. There, he worked for five years in a company manufacturing hair coloring materials. After that, when he was thinking of returning to Nepal and going to the target, he immediately flew to Saudi Arabia after seeing the 072 earthquake and aftershocks causing havoc. Worked in a restaurant there for three months. In the years since then, he has continuously traveled around the Gulf countries in search of work.
Two years in a ware house in Malaysia, from there in 077 he worked in a clothing store in Kuwait for some time . While working in Kubet, various problems started appearing in his body and he fell ill. "Suddenly, I started having cold fingers, itching, pain in the back of my head, feeling tired, smelling raw blood in my mouth and fainting," he said. During the test, it was confirmed that he had blood cancer on Chait 12, 2079.'
He narrated that the Indian doctor said, 'You have nine months left, let's start fulfilling your last wish'. "Suddenly, I became sicker when I found out that I had a disease that I had never imagined," he said emotionally, "I lay in bed for a while in shock." As per the advice of the doctor there, the treatment lasted for three months at KCCC, even though the day of death was fixed for nine months, I decided to get treatment He also told that the money he earned ended up at one end of the treatment. Expensive treatment and the help of friends and relatives how long will it last in another country! And when I was about to die, I returned to Nepal on June 14, 2014,' he said, 'When other relatives arrived at home to welcome me, tears and happiness were seen in my eyes.' Anuprastha Foundation, he was admitted to the Blood and Multispeciality Hospital at Jawalakhel in Lalitpur. Chemo was conducted there for three months during the treatment . Even though the matter of bone marrow transplant came up, it could not go ahead because the medical report did not find donor specific antibodies. "While I was waiting there, the disease got worse, now all I can do is depend on the chemotherapy," he said, "it's been 19 months since this happened, I remember being given a life expectancy of nine months from Kubet in 079, now the 19th chemo is over, I'm alive because of my confidence and the chance God gave me." as it seems .'
According to Navraj's mother Goma, he wakes up daily from 5 to 6 am. And exercise as much as possible. They only eat fresh food at home, except for greasy, sweet cakes. They walk only by looking at the blood report . They don't eat stale ones. "My son, who had set the day of his death on his way back from Kubet, but he is happy and confident by writing poems and songs, I am surprised, my son is a hero," said Goma. According to him, Navraj often prefers to be alone .
According to his relative Harekrishna Neupane, Navraj has taken the 19th chemo so far. In which 60 lakh rupees have been spent including medicine. Since he needs 60,000 monthly expenses, since then he has been raising treatment expenses by selling his works. Four collections of poems have been published as Sapna Lahars 1 and 2 (Poetry Collection 2080), Sapna Lahars 3 and 4 (Poetry Collection 2081). Other than that his other songs seem to be preferred . Kavi Neupane's 'Sahrai Nai Aha' and 'Aayu Prabhu' have been composed by singer Suman Rai. He is a poet and song writer who is battling cancer and even participated in the famous program 'Poet Idol' which was conducted 6 months ago. He won the hearts of the audience and the judges by giving some excellent poems. Due to those incidents, he has experienced his life span extended . He got a suggestion from the health worker that he had a short time while writing the poem titled 'Waves of dreams' and he put the above poem at the back of his work and brought it to publication. Another wish to stay alive for some time is to write 'Dream Waves-4'. My treatment is difficult but not impossible, I have no hope of survival, the struggle continues," he said.
