The Joy of Birthing Centers

A convenient health post building with a birthing center was inaugurated on Wednesday in the remote Tripurasundari rural municipality-1 Ghorthali village of the district.

Karna Bahadur Khadka, the 87-year-old former ward president of Tripurasundari-1, who was present at the inauguration, was very emotional. He said that he became emotional when he remembered the moment when he was expelled from the village assembly when he demanded a health post in this village seven years ago.

"Seven years ago, I was kicked out of the village assembly when I demanded a health post for this village, I cried after suffering the humiliation, but today I am very happy to see that dream come true, how can I express that happiness?" said former president Khadka.

"I was 81 years old when I demanded the health post, now I am 87 years old, now like before, pregnant women and pregnant women do not have to wash for twelve hours, sick people don't have to get healthy," said Khadka.

Tripurasundari rural municipality has formally inaugurated the building which was completed with a government subsidy of 38 lakh 50 thousand rupees on the first day under 'Tripurasundari opening week 2081'.

The municipality has said that there is a program to inaugurate many structures including administrative buildings and bridges that have been completed for seven consecutive days.

Tripurasundari Rural Municipality Chairman Bhaktadhwaj Bohra said that the then Ward President Khadka has been making repeated demands and now that a facility-equipped birthing center has been built here, old Khadka shed tears of joy.

"After the problem of having to rush to Bahrbise Nagar Hospital and Dhulikhel Hospital after taking four hours more time for pregnant and labor pains, the faces of all the locals have brightened up like the old former ward president," said President Bohra.
