Makwanpur police arrested two youths with 175 kg of ganja. BA Pradesh 03-001 Ch 1584 going towards Pathalaiya from Hetaunda. When the police of Hetounda sub-metropolis-15 Ratomate check post checked the pick-up vehicle, they found 175 kg of marijuana.
The police said that the driver Suman Lama, 24, of Makwanpur Bakaiya rural municipality-4 and Sushil Blon, 24, resident of Bakaiya-11, who were riding in the same vehicle, were taken into custody. Lama, the driver, told the police that he was going to take the marijuana to Birgunj.
According to the Makwanpur police, from July to November 19 of the current year, 2,2383 kg of 600 grams of ganja, 30 kg of hashish and 239 grams of brown heroin have been recovered. Deputy Superintendent of Police and Spokesman Shyamu Aryal said that Makwanpur police arrested 71 people including Nepali and Indian nationals on charges of drug dealing. According to him, during this period, 65 Nepalis including 2 women and 6 Indian citizens including one woman have been arrested on charges of drug dealing.
According to the data of District Police Office Makwanpur, last year police arrested 250 people including 21 women and filed a case on the charge of drug trafficking. During that period, Makwanpur police seized 3,962 kg of ganja, 13 kg of opium, 78 grams of heroin and 150 kg of hashish.
