In the Animal Slaughterhouses and Meat Inspection Act 2055, meat inspection inspectors are required to look at the health condition of the animals in the slaughterhouses and the quality of the meat produced from them, and only such meat can be sold in the shop. But in the big cities of the country, there are no organized slaughterhouses, and no meat inspection inspectors have been appointed.

Although the government mechanism is activated in the name of monitoring the market during the festival, there is no monitoring at other times. Ramchandra Acharya, coordinator of Animal Nepal Chitwan, a non-governmental organization working in the field of animal welfare  They say that only healthy animals can be slaughtered in the slaughterhouse after completing the process.

In Chitwan, which produces the most chicken, there is a data that only about 18 thousand metric tons of chicken meat is produced annually. But the place where animals are slaughtered for meat is an open place on the banks of the river. The representatives of Animal Nepal say that buffaloes are being slaughtered here in a very haphazard manner.

Bharatpur has yet to finalize the land for the slaughterhouse. Although a committee was formed under the coordination of Deputy Mayor Chitrasen Adhikari of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, the work has not progressed . The Deputy Mayor Adhikari himself admits that meat is being traded in the same way as it was 50 years ago in Bhatarpur.

On the other hand, the modern slaughterhouse built in Butwal by spending 22 million 13 million rupees including 2 million collected from the farmers in the commercial center of Lumbini province, has stalled due to the lack of interest of the people's representatives. Due to lack of space, meat businessmen are forced to look for river banks, public land and private land for animal slaughter. Due to the partnership in the construction of the slaughterhouse, a procedure of '4P model' was made for the sustainable operation of the slaughterhouse between Butwal Sub-metropolitan, Heifer International Project and farmers. Accordingly, it is mentioned that the slaughterhouse will be operated in the model of public-private-producer and cooperative partnership.

Accordingly, the Butwal Meat Production and Processing Company Pvt. 35,000 goat rearing farmers and 340 meat businessmen from 34 cooperatives are affiliated to the company. 35,000 livestock farmers from Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Palpa, Gulmi and Arghakhanchi in Lumbini Province invested 10.9 million rupees in the construction of the slaughterhouse. However, after the Butwal sub-metropolitan city entered into an agreement with the private company Muktinath Livestock Bank Limited on the 1st of October 2080 for 58 lakh 38 thousand lire per annum, the farmers and meat traders came out against it. Businessmen are now searching for river banks, courtyards and public places and slaughtering Khasibo.

In the year 2066 in Biratnagar, the capital of Koshi province, the plan to build a state-of-the-art animal slaughterhouse on the bank of Singhia river in Madhumara has not been completed even after a decade and a half. After finding technical errors in the preliminary detailed project report (DPR) prepared with the technical assistance of Heifer International, the Department of Animal Services ordered to stop the construction work . According to Hiralal Yadav, head of the veterinary branch of the metropolis, the construction work was stopped due to errors in the old DPR. Now the new DPR has been approved. Construction will be started after the decision of the metropolis.  Since

, there are more than 50 slaughterhouses of private companies in the tourist city of Pokhara where at least 300 cattle and 60 buffaloes are slaughtered daily. So that there is no problem in slaughtering chickens . However, due to the lack of an organized slaughterhouse, it is very difficult to slaughter and prepare meat for other animals including goats, goats, buffaloes, etc.

Not if the construction of abattoir in Pokhara has not been planned . This plan has been stalled for seven years . A cost sharing agreement was signed between Gandaki provincial government and Pokhara Metropolitan Municipality in 076 Baisakh to build a state-of-the-art animal slaughterhouse. It was mentioned in the agreement that the metropolis will arrange the necessary land for the construction of the slaughterhouse, prepare the DPR, purchase and build the necessary infrastructure with equipment. Even though the provincial government had an agreement to monitor and make suggestions, no progress could be made.
