The five-star 'Hotel Tulip', which is going to be operational in Sauraha next October, has operated a 24-hour 'Mazhighar' restaurant within the premises. Bharatpur Municipal Corporation-2 has started a night market in Kshetrapur every Friday from 7 to 10 pm in the street box from the last week of June.

These two decisions of the night business of food and beverage hotels in the highway area and some double restaurants and dance clubs in Narayangadh, Bharatpur, Ratnagar have brought the possibility of night market in Chitwan into discussion. 

Apart from shutters in Chitwan's market area, which close late in the evening, hotels along the highway are open till 11 pm. There is a rule to close other hotels after 11 pm. It has been decided to close the double restaurant at 12 and the dance club at 1 o'clock," said Yagya Bahadur Karki, vice president of Hoteliers Association Chitwan. He informed that there are around 900 hotels in Chitwan whether or not they are affiliated to the association. Apart from that, 200 hotels are located in the highway area, he said.

The highway area is also not busy with night business as before. Our unit's area is from Ramnagar to Simaltal on the Narayangadh-Muglin road. Where there are 43 hotels serving food and snacks. In the first night, there were 25 hotels that were open till late to feed the bus passengers. Now there are 20," Ganesh Neupane, coordinator of the Ramnagar Simaltal unit of the hotel business association said. Although the hotel that serves food is open till 2/3 am, other hotels close before 11 am .

Rambhajan of Bara Jitpur was selling chickpeas in the Muglin market at 8 pm. It has been 17 years since Gupta came to Muglin and started this business. He has experience of doing business after 2 pm . Muglin is a market with a nationwide reputation as a place to eat and drink. Now this number has decreased . "I have also stopped serving rice to the passengers of the vehicle since last year." Two/four people eat in a small car. If not, I will sell lunch and close it after 11 pm," said Meen Bahadur Shrestha, coordinator of the hotel association Muglin unit. This unit has 92 hotels from Muglin to Chitwan Dhading border Mauva River.

About half of these hotels also serve food to bus passengers, Shrestha said. The hotels serving rice are open till 2/3 am. It also sells fruits, chatpats and tea till night. Hotels that only serve lunch are closed after 11 pm, Shrestha said. He said that the hotel that serves food will be busy only after 10 pm.

Hotel business has started in Muglin since 2026. The Thakali community from Mustang opened a hotel to serve rice. With the completion of the Prithvi Highway and the Narayangadh-Muglin road, Muglin became a place to eat for travelers traveling from East-West to Kathmandu or Pokhara. "From the Marwari vegetarian hotel to the Muslim, Thakali hotel, you can find a living here," said Shrestha. He said that Muglin has won the hearts of many. But during the Maoist armed struggle, Muglin's business was withering after the night curfew started, and Shrestha says that it was badly affected due to the lockdown due to Corona in March 2076. "Muglin does not have business and commercial activities like in the 50s. But learning how to do night business can be learned from here," he said.

He told that there has never been any bad big incident or scandal even in the place where people from all over the country gather after the night falls. The main thing is the police activity. The police who are hanging around come immediately when called. Apart from that, there is good coordination among all businessmen,' he said. He told that there was no tragic incident in Muglin because when there was a problem in a hotel or shop, others also went to solve it. 

Muglin's business is mostly run by families, so he said that businessmen have a sense of hospitality. "If these things are to be started at night business, it can be imitated elsewhere," he said, "there is a lot of potential for night business in other areas in Chitwan."

Chitwan is the first destination for wildlife tourism. Mahesh Khanal, general secretary of Chitwan Sauraha (Han), an organization of tourist hotels, says that there are enough bases for the night business to flourish here due to the good road network, the central part of the country, and the main road to Kathmandu-Pokhara. "The district administration has made a procedure and the businessmen are ready to do it accordingly," he said. Yagya Bahadur Karki, vice president of Chitwan Hoteliers Association, said that since the hotel in the bus park area has to be closed at 11 o'clock now, passengers are also facing problems. "Anyone who wants to stay in Narayangarh or Bharatpur after 11 o'clock in the place where travelers from all over the country come and stop cannot find a hotel," he said.

There are 11 double restaurants in Chitwan in Narayangadh, Bharatpur and Ratnanagar areas. Anand Ranjit, the owner of Sangam Dohri located at Narayangadh Shahid Chowk and the former president of Dohri Geet Pratishthan Chitwan, said that the business is very slow now. He said that it will be more difficult if it is closed soon. After 10/11 o'clock, people enter again, it should be closed at 12 o'clock. As time went on, our business also increased," said Ranjit. He said that nine double restaurants in Narayangadh Bharatpur area have provided direct employment to around 300 people from artists to hotel staff. He said that the government should protect the sector that has created jobs and that they are also paying attention to security. 

There are two clubs in Narayangarh Bharatpur area. They open one hour more than the double . Former Vice President of Chitwan Industry Association Yugraj Vasti says that two years ago, he had given the basis that at least one billion annual revenue could be added to this sector if the night market flourished. The night market is run on different themes. By making tourism the theme, there is a basis for running night markets in different places of Chitwan," he said. He suggested that Narayani Kinar should be used as it is a good night market area. There are other places where the night market can be held. Safety is key to running a night market. Social acceptance is also desired. The night market runs well in Chitwan,' said Vasti. Rajendra Oli, the vice president of Chitwan Industry and Commerce Association, also said that by running a night market targeting tourism in Chitwan, focusing on the entertainment sector, it will help increase economic activity.
