Due to corona infection, Tiptala Bhanjyang checkpoint, which was closed since 5th January 2076, was opened on 11th May 2081. 33 people from Paktanglung rural municipality-7, Olangchungola, reached the Riu market in Tibet with goods such as carpets, churpi etc. A trade fair was held in Rio.
After almost five years, the residents of Olangchungola met their relatives in Tibet in the market and returned home on May 18 after five days.
081 In March, the team led by the chief district officer of Taplejung, Netra Prasad Sharma, reached Dingje County in China and returned. Sharma's team, which was accompanied by the Nepal Police and the Chief of Armed Police (DSP) along with Prazia, included the Chairman of the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area Management Council, Khagendra Phembu, and the staff of the Conservation Area. They returned from participating in the bilateral border security meeting.
There are only two districts in Nepal that share borders with both neighboring countries China and India, Taplejung in the east and Darchula in the west. Tiptala Bhanjyang at Taplejung separates the border of the two countries . Phattanglung-7 Olangchungola and Yangma of Taplejung, which have marriage relations with Tibet, are settlements close to the border. Towards China, there are settlements called Riu and Ghumti. After the opening of the border, the Nepalese near the border have reached the Tibetan market, but the Chinese citizens have not yet come to Nepal.
Paktanglung-7 Olangchungola ward president Cheten Sherpa Lama says that since the opening of the border crossing, not a single Chinese person has come to Nepal. He is also not particularly knowledgeable about the reason for this . He has not even asked why you did not come. "Permits have not been given to citizens there from China." They have not left their inhabitants. Cattle has also stopped coming. Also, those who pass through us are not allowed to roam everywhere like before (before Corona),'' Cheten added, 'those who pass through us have to show their pass and those who come from there also have to show their pass. I have said that laws are equal. But it hasn't come yet.' Cheten says that the Chinese may not be in a hurry as soon as the border opens, all the people there have gone to meet their relatives.
Before the corona infection, the head of the People's Government of Dingje County, security officers also used to come to the settlement of Olangchungola by car. "Several times they came to this place (Olangchungola) and took people from there," said outgoing ward president Cheten Sherpa Bhote. Carpets, ghee, herbs have been delivered to the market and sold. They have brought salt, flour, clothes and other goods from Riu. However, the citizens of China have not yet been able to welcome them to the settlement. Cattle breeders here have not been able to sell Chaunri, Yak, Nak . They think that the Chinese authorities would come and explain their problems and find a solution. Nupu Sherpa of Olangchungola said, 'We were hoping that we would be able to find a way out by taking them to their own settlement like before, but they have not come.'
Dingje County, which has built an administrative building on the border, has been welcoming and honoring people's representatives, political parties, and high-ranking employees of Nepal who come to the border until they are informed. They have served lunch and dinner. The team led by Naran Thapa, the then president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (currently outgoing) was welcomed with a meal at Tiptala Bhanjyang in the first week of January. Businessmen from Taplejung reached the border for the first time with their own vehicle after the opening of the road. Earlier, Maoist central member and Taplejung in-charge Khel Prasad Budhathoki, President of Congress District Working Committee Taplejung, Gajendra Prasad Tumyahang, welcomed the team in their administrative building premises with food in this way. Ward president Cheten says that they bring lunch from Riu market in a car to feed them.
The then Chief District Officer Acharya, Hiradevi Paudel, Gomadevi Chemjong who reached the border before the opening of the checkpoint were also honored in the same way. As there is no such structure on the Nepal side, there is no condition to respect them at the border like this, Ward President Cheten says. "When the officials of the two countries meet, we also go with shovels." We will arrest them too,' Cheten said, 'They have placed CCTV cameras at the border, they search for new people when they see them at the border. We have no such structure.'
Chinese officials are not sure about the border at a height of 5100 meters. Sisi has cameras and regulates from Rio . Riu with the administrative building is about 35 km from the border . The Nepalese say that the Chinese officials will come from below as there is a paved road. Apart from the citizens of the border areas who have been issued a travel permit (pass) by the district administration office, others cannot go to China.
Until now, it takes three days to reach Tiptala Bhanjang by vehicle from Taplejung headquarter Fungling . From the headquarters of Fungling, you can reach the border in one day by car and return to the settlement of Olangchungola. But so far, those who go from the headquarters to Olangchungola settlement on the first day, reach the border on the second day and return to the settlement and return to the headquarters on the third day. So far, the rain has not damaged the road . But since the water level in the river has started to rise and there are many steep banks, it is not known when it will stop. "After coming here (Olangchungola), if the road is stopped, the owners of cars stopped bringing vehicles because they have to stay here throughout the winter," he said.
Bhakta Bahadur Karki, Chairman of Mikwakhola Rural Municipality, Household and Small Industries Office and others have also brought the government vehicle to the border and returned it. There is no bridge mainly in Sukepani and Jongin. Here you have to cross the river Tamor. Beilibridge is being constructed in Jongin. As the water level in the Tamor river has started to rise, the locals are worried that traffic will be disrupted at any time. Herbs such as Chiraito were also exported to China this year after the border was opened. Even the tractors reached the border and returned.
It is 22 km from Olangchungola to reach Tiptala Bhanjyang. Thapa, president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, recalls that it took 5 hours to reach the settlement of Gola and only three hours to return. Businessmen have been claiming that if all areas of the Tiptala-Rani road section, which is considered to be the shortest route connecting Nepal-China and India, are black-lettered, it will contribute to the promotion of trilateral business . During the international border security meeting held between the Dingji County government and the security officials of Taplejung, the Tibetan official said that if there is an agreement between the government and the government, the issue of blackening the road up to Fungling-Tiptala can be moved forward.
The chief district officer of Taplejung, Netra Prasad Sharma, has also said that he informed the Ministry of Home Affairs in writing about the matters included in the border security meeting with the Tibetan officials. Cheten, the ward president of Paktanglung-7, has been demanding the government to build a dry port at Mauwatar in Olangchungola. Ward President Cheten has been coordinating between the officials of Tibet, an autonomous region of Nepal and China, and acting as an interpreter for Nepal.
