”May the upcoming elections create an environment where everyone can live and work in the country.”

How much better it would be if leaders stayed in the country and worked, created jobs, and controlled inflation. No one thinks about this.

What you should know

Until two years ago, my husband used to repair radios. He suddenly fell ill and is now resting. He has lost all strength and is unable to repair radios and watches.

To make it a little easier, I carry vegetables on my back and sell them every day. I have been going from market to market saying, "Here comes the vegetables." I go to the villages to buy vegetables. I go to Aanpatari, Bartung, Kajipauwa, and Bandipokhara near Tansen and bring vegetables and sell them.

It has been about 5 years since I started selling vegetables in Doko. Sometimes I sell vegetables from Telgha, Madanpokhara, Masyam, as well as Bhairavsthan, Palung Mainadi, and Argali. Sometimes it is good. Some days, even the vegetables are not sold. I earn about 500 a day.

Although my family is from Mathagadhi Rural Municipality-1, Chidipani, Jaupokhara, my husband's home is in Dang. I am a Magarni. My husband is Basnet Chhetri. I have not been to Dang's house since I live in Tansen. It has been about 35 years since I started living in Tansen. Even though my family is from Jaupokhara, I worked as a dhaka weaver in Tansen for about 22 years.

I grew up in the Magar community. When we were children, we were not expected to study much. That is why I did not study. What should I do now that I regret it? My husband Ganesh and I have been living in Tansen. I am now 61 years old. I have to meet the expenses of the elderly. There is no shame in working and eating.

After carrying vegetables on my head, I worry if there is no sale. It is so expensive that it is not enough to cover my household expenses. Has the price increased so much? I am surprised. My income is 5/6 hundred. The market is getting expensive. I didn't earn more than 5/7 thousand per month when I was weaving dhaka. I suffered a lot. Now I earn at least 10/15 thousand. I spend 3,500 more on room rent, electricity, and water. Buying rice, salt, oil, and spices costs the same.

I have become accustomed to selling vegetables in Tansen. Many people know me now. That's why it was a little easier to sell. I see leaders wandering around the city market. I don't even know which party they belong to, Congress or UML. I have heard that elections are going to be held. Isn't it on Falgun 21? Do I have to go to Chidipani to vote? After all, who would tell people like us to go? I still want to vote. I wonder what will happen to us and others like us even if we vote. Who has ever understood our suffering? If we vote, the leaders will go up and down. I don't know if anyone has come back and asked us what's wrong with us.

I am the one who bought and ate rice for 5 rupees. But now rice priced at less than 60 rupees is not available. Earlier, paddy was bought and cooked in the villages. Now there is no one to work in the villages. The youth have gone abroad. Women are also going. I am a little old. They won't take me. Otherwise, I would have gone too. It would be great if the leaders worked in the country, created jobs, and controlled inflation. No one thinks about this. The poor will become poorer. The rich, the leaders will become richer.

May the upcoming elections create an environment where everyone can work and live in the country. Citizenship has not been obtained from home yet. I am worried that citizenship obtained without marriage will not allow me to receive allowances. I am now thinking of obtaining citizenship soon. I think that I should obtain citizenship even after reaching Dang. I do not have children. I also want to buy a little land here and obtain citizenship here. But I have not consulted my husband. In any case, I will obtain citizenship soon. Presented by:
