Now, the aran business is also disappearing. This profession is in crisis due to the lack of transmission and generational change.

I spent my life working in the aran. For me, this village is the world. No matter how hard I worked, I could not rise above the Balighare tradition. After not getting any success, I left the village job and came to Tamghas, the district headquarters, to earn a living. Now I am also doing the aran business in Tamghas Deurali.
I am now 58 years old. My home is in Badagaun, Musikot Municipality-3. My ancestral aran was in our Musikot plain. I have five sons and two daughters. All of them have started their own work. Currently, my wife Basanti and I are living in our own house in Tamghas Khanigaun.
We could never make progress in the aran business as a small house in the village. Household expenses were also very difficult. We used to get food from iron bars all year round, but we did not have enough food for even 6 months. So, even though I was old, I decided to end the small house system. It was not possible in the village. And I came to Tamghas. Although it was slow, I have been able to convert food from grain to wages. After this conversion, I started earning. Otherwise, there was no income, it was just work. If I could make a living with the food I got, I would have said okay. But, what could the work of the farmer do when I couldn't even make a living!
The tradition of the farmer ended after Tamghas came. I have been able to modernize my profession. I make all iron weapons as ordered. I take a sickle for 50 rupees sharpened. I have also sold new ones. I sell sickles for 400 to 600 rupees. Now I have been paying a monthly rent of 1,400 rupees in Deurali Chowk. I work from morning till evening. Since I am in the Chowk, good work has come from here and there. I also have a helper with me to help me forge iron.
On average, I earn between 500 and 1,000 rupees daily. Being a farmer in my life's work has always been a loss. But it's okay. Technology is needed. But there was no help from anywhere. Years passed in the hope of help. Even though everyone should be able to do it, no one cares. So many years passed by sitting with the fire. The more I worked on the fire, the more I worked with my heart.
I now need modern types of firewood. But I am only disappointed because no one cared. Even if it was a grant, I would have helped. I haven't done a big business! Only food has been provided. Nothing else has been done.
Now the firewood business is also disappearing. This profession is in crisis due to the lack of handover and generational transfer. Even if we don't do it the old way, the next generation should do it in a modern way. But there is no attraction in it. The next generation does not take up such a profession. If it is done traditionally, it is very sad. There is no income . But, if it can be made at least simple, then this profession is good .
The main thing needed for the aran business is coal . It is very difficult to make coal now. I am buying coal from the village . It is very difficult . Everyone has facilities . But no one has helped us .
The problem for coal is getting worse . This problem needs to be solved . It would have been easier if we were given a discount, even if it was only for coal . But, no one is paying attention to our profession . If we do our job, it will be done .
Coal and modern technology are enough in the aran business . There are no other big expectations . Modernity is not needed in food and clothing . If we have simple pulses, rice and vegetables, food is enough . If you have normal clothes, you can wear them. I am satisfied with this.
Although it is slow, I have been able to make the Balighare Aran business professional with modernity. This brings me great joy. I have no other regrets. However, I am expecting the help of improved modern Aran and coal. If this is the case, I think I can do my job easily.
