Due to the poor financial condition of my family, I went to Kalapahad, India in 2055 BS while studying in grade 5. Due to difficulties in managing my household expenses, I went abroad with a local youth at the age of 14. I spent about 12 years in Nagpur, India. I worked on a buffalo farm there. The money I earned by working day and night was enough to manage my household expenses.

I was frustrated because I could not save any money even after working for a long time. At that time, I also started struggling to manage my family expenses. On the contrary, when I fell ill and got treated, I took a loan of 7 lakhs. Instead of earning, I took a loan and returned home empty-handed in 2067.

After finding it difficult to repay the loan, educate my son, and meet household expenses, I started buffalo farming in Nepal in 2077 BS, utilizing the skills I learned while working on a buffalo farm in India. That same farm has now made me an entrepreneur.

I am now 41 years old. I started it by buying two buffaloes. To make it a professional business, I registered a popular buffalo farming farm. I took a loan of 1 million from the Agricultural Development Bank and 8 lakhs from a local cooperative to build a hut and buy buffaloes. Of that, 10 lakh rupees were raised from relatives and friends, and 2.8 million rupees were spent on buffalo farming and building a hut. I kept adding buffaloes, and now I have 23 small and large buffaloes. Eight of them give about 100 liters of milk daily.

If I sell at a rate of 70 rupees per liter, I can sell only 7 thousand rupees per day and 210 thousand rupees per month. Buying feed for a buffalo for a month costs about 50 thousand rupees. Similarly, 10 thousand rupees are spent on electricity, sanitation, and medicine, 20 thousand rupees for laborers, and 30 thousand rupees are spent on buying daily necessities such as rice, lentils, vegetables, and meat as needed for a family of four. I have been saving one lakh rupees monthly and one million rupees annually after cutting all expenses. After earning a good income from buffalo farming, I have already paid off the loans I had taken from the Agricultural Development Bank, cooperatives, relatives, and for treatment in India in a few years.

The money I earned from raising buffaloes and selling milk now meets all my family's needs. Earlier, I used to worry about how I would make ends meet. If someone in the house got sick, I had to take a loan from a moneylender and go for treatment. Now, there is no such problem. After successfully engaging in buffalo farming, it has become much easier to manage household expenses. I have been able to educate my children. I have saved some money. I have acquired land. I used to wander around for employment, but now I have found employment at home and have also given employment to a few more.

Frequent power outages and lack of water have made it difficult to manage the business. Everything else is fine. After putting my heart and soul into buffalo farming, I have also had the opportunity to be honored by the Animal Hospital and Animal Service Office. I would like to advise the youth of the next generation that instead of wandering for foreign employment, they can earn better than abroad by investing that money in a business or industry at home. I would like to urge the youth to invest the money they spend on foreign employment in industry and agriculture at home and work on their own work in their own country with their families.
