”I am teaching one daughter to be a nurse and the other to be a nurse by working as a salary”

What you should know

At that time, for the first time, it was customary to perform kanyadan without menstruation. The wedding took place in Kamalbazar Municipality-9, Bajgaon. Now I am 48 years old. I got married at the age of 15. After marriage, I stayed at home for two years only. Then my husband and I went to Maharashtra, India to look for work.

About 20 years were spent looking for work in different cities of India . After going to India, I did not get along with my husband . My husband used to take not only the money he earned, but also the money I earned. My two daughters were born while living there. Now the eldest daughter is 21 years old. The youngest daughter is 15 years old.

I thought that if my daughters were not taught, they would suffer more than me. I was working in India and teaching my daughter there. Meanwhile, my husband went away from family contact . Even after a lot of searching, it was not found in which place and in what condition. Even though she suffered from drinking alcohol, she was able to work in another country when her husband was with her. The husband had been out of contact for five years . Searched with the help of relatives and friends. After not being found anywhere, I returned to Acham 10 years ago with two daughters.

It was not possible to stay in the house that I left two decades ago . My ancestral home is Mangalsen . Now it has been 10 years since I came to live in Mangalsen on the trust of my mother, who could not even work as a laborer in the village, and would not even be able to educate her daughters. Between these 10 years, the husband came in contact . Stayed in Achham for some time, spent the rest of the time in India. Didn't get support from husband . On the one hand, the pain given by the society for having only a daughter and no son, and on the other hand, the worry about the daughter's future made it very difficult .

I thought that if my daughters were not taught, they would suffer more than me. I taught my eldest daughter to be a staff nurse by selling firewood and working as a laborer in Mangalsen. When I decided to teach nursing to my daughter, I had 160,000 rupees collected by selling firewood and working for others. With the help of relatives, I sent the same money to Kathmandu. The studies that were completed in three years took five years due to Corona. To teach my daughter, I ran to wherever I could find work day and night. It took about 14 lakh rupees to teach nursing to my daughter. Out of that, about 5 lakhs is a loan. I collected other money by working as a laborer. She still hasn't paid that loan.

The younger daughter is good in studies . He thought that if he was taught a good subject, his future would be happy . This year, the name has come out to study in HA (Health Assistant) at Mangalsen polytechnic school. I have paid 60,000 for this year by taking a loan. The trust of teaching the younger daughter is done by doing the work of others. Until the 20th of Asar, work such as carrying stones and ballast was found. It's been three months since then, I haven't found a job anywhere .

When working like this, they give 600 a day . I will save the same money to educate my daughter . Earlier, firewood could be brought from the forest . A heavy piece of firewood sold for two hundred days. Now you can't go to the forest . Closed . Also left to sell firewood . It doesn't seem like anything has been found here . I will see it till winter . If I don't get any work, I will go to India and even if I work, I will also teach my younger daughter.

Lack is being added to the lack . Her husband in India was diagnosed with tongue cancer two months ago. Treatment in India is also expensive. After I found out that I had cancer, I called Nepal . I asked my relatives for a loan and took him to BP Koirala Cancer Hospital in Chitwan. 5 lakhs were spent during the treatment. My relatives are believing that I can pay the loan I asked for even though I have to work hard.

Mangalsen has a small house . We live there now . There is no land in this place. All must be bought and eaten. Sometimes it is difficult to avoid. No matter how sad I am now, my daughters are studying, I am living in the hope that my day will return.
