”After not being able to do farming, I started a small business”

I have no complaints about my son and daughter. They tell me that if you can't walk, don't go to village and don't trade in bags, we will make a living. My heart does not agree. Every morning I walk around the village and return home in the evening. I have all kinds of clients.

If you don't work hard, you will be lazy! Again they say lazy people cannot progress in life. So I don't want to be lazy. Many friends of my age have become dependents by staying at home. He will not stop carrying the bag until his limbs move. It is this bag that has brought me here after running the household expenses.

My house is in Melauli Municipality-6 Hataranga . I am now 77 years old . Age has no effect on my work . But the feet keep reminding me of age . Earlier I had a watered field . I used to grow vegetables in that field .

I used to sell vegetables that were not consumed at home . 12 years ago, a flood washed away Mudresaltadi. Neither we the villagers could build the washed-out village, nor could the central and state governments from the localities rebuild it. After that I was displaced not only from vegetable farming, but also from my place.

After not being able to do farming, I didn't want to stay at home doing nothing . After that, I started a business. I also call this business a service . I have delivered the daily necessities like oil, sugar, tea leaves, sweets, salt, biscuits, vegetable seeds and vegetable and fruit plants to everyone's home yard. Apart from this, I have also brought the same according to the orders of the remaining consumers. That's why I consider this profession as a service. I have made a good living out of it .

You don't have capital to do big business . At home I have children, grandchildren, wife and 133-year-old mother . Son works in India. His labor covers their expenses. And I have to do this business to cover the remaining expenses . I have no complaints about my son and daughter. They tell me if they can't walk, don't go to villages and trade in bags, we will make a living . My heart doesn't accept . Every day I walk around the village in the morning and return home in the evening. I have all kinds of clients .

I carry the goods according to their demand in a bag and sell them with them . I like children the most . I also sell toys according to their demand . The children watch the way on the day of my coming . I walk without feeling sweaty . My only support is this umbrella . It supports me in both sun and rain. This bag business has become known in every village of mine . Acquaintance is my wealth .

Now the road has reached the village. I don't have a business like I used to. Now I buy goods from Melauli market. Earlier, I brought goods from Bagarkot in Dadeldhura and sold them . I'm doing all this for the stomach . I have made this bag business and a house to live in from my son's labor in India . I don't sell goods only in my village Hatranga, I even reach other villages like Dehi, Kanda, Village Kot, Bagot, Asur, Kotigaon and Khaligad and carry goods in bags.

I don't have a permanent polyhouse . If I had a permanent polyhouse, I would be able to grow my own vegetable and fruit plants . Now I have been buying and selling vegetable and fruit plants from Tulsa Agriculture and Polti Foam in the village. Last year, by investing 15 percent in cash, the Chief Minister was giving permanent polyhouses through Krishi Yojana. But I didn't get permanent polyhouse as I couldn't pay 15% cash .

I didn't have that much cash. Chintamani Bhattaji, a ward secretary of my village, bought and gave polythene for the construction of a temporary polyhouse. And now I have constructed a temporary polyhouse. Now I am growing fruit and vegetable seeds in it .  If you can break a story, there is money around your own house. Even if you don't get a lump sum salary in a month like in foreign countries, after adding up the daily salary, you get a monthly salary . I deduct the money for the goods and take out the daily wage . I used to carry goods in this bag and sell them in the local fair going to the village.

I carry more than 20 kilos of stuff in my bag . Two days of life is . I think we have to struggle a lot and reach our goals. My only goal is to open a small shop even if it is on rent and do business. Along with that, make a permanent polyhouse and grow vegetables around the house. Until I can walk

, I will go from village to village and do business. I have not lost courage even when age is about to cut the hill .
