'There is sadness in life but I have not lost courage'

I have understood many things in life after the passage of time. The most important thing is that I did not understand the importance of education at the time. Because it took 4/5 hours to reach the headquarters from Rajoda, the ancestral home. I stopped reading because of the pain of that walk. After marriage came the responsibility of taking care of the family. I started a small retail business in Bagh Bazar of the headquarters. At that time Bagh Bazar was called Bagh Khod. The grocery business helped to run the household expenses.

Now I am 57 years old . I have been doing this job for 28 years . The family has a wife, 5 daughters, 2 sons . I did retail business in Bagh Bazar for 16 years. Then I rented a godown and started selling groceries to traders. Noodles, Biscuits, Surf and  I used to keep soap. I used to sell 2/4 money profit to the merchant here . I had taken it to eat and drink with the collected rain.

Initially there were 10-12 shops in Baghbazar. Carrying the head on my back, I used to go to the market from morning to evening and deliver the goods . There was a bag of goods in one hand and salt in the other. The weight of rice on the back . While going up and down in this way, not only sweat, but sometimes even tears flowed . Even if the road was built, cars did not drive. Home grown vegetables, lentils, ghee  And carrying honey, the village would come to the market to sell it in the morning . I used to return from the market after buying salt, oil, soap.

My business started from retail to wholesale . I have been buying and selling kabaddi items for three years. I got into this business after I had no livelihood other than groceries. I made a tin shed in Tufandanda to keep the collected waste material . Two months ago, the municipality removed the fence while expanding the road . After that, I kept things in the open. As soon as I collect a little, I will sell it to the contractor . I buy copy books and scrap iron and sell them to the kabaddi collection center of the nearby Dhundhune market .

Now I buy iron for 40 rupees and sell it for 45 . I buy copy books for 10 rupees per kilo and sell them for 13. Not much profit. That is, when you have a lot of goods, you can save up to 2000 at once. The children were brought up by various trades. Daughters are married.

The eldest son became a government employee last year . Having made a name for himself in Ayurveda, he is currently working in Palpa district. Now my younger son and I live in Dera . 4,000 room rent. 4/5 thousand rations are spent. Younger son is studying engineering . 15,000 fee for admission in government college . As the college has waived the monthly fee, it costs about 1500 per month on the copy pen .

I send the necessary ration water for my wife who is at home from here . Now in a year after my youngest son's education, I have thought of taking a leave from business . Sometimes good earnings can be made from kabaddi business . On days when the goods are not collected, you have to buy ration water on loan. Although there is no guarantee of business, if the work is not left, the stomach is taken care of . Some friends who started business together with

reached Kathmandu and became big businessmen . Some are returning home and doing farming . I am earning a living by sweating here. Not losing heart .
