Minister for Education and Sports and University Pro-Chancellor Sasmit Pokharel administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly appointed vice-chancellors of various universities at a program organized at the ministry on Friday.

Chancellor Shah appointed the vice-chancellors from among the candidates recommended by the University Vice-Chancellor Selection and Recommendation Committee. Minister Pokharel administered the oath to Tribhuvan University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa, Sudurpaschim University Vice-Chancellor Kisan Dutta Bhatta, Madhyapaschim University Vice-Chancellor Rajan Suwal, Agriculture and Forestry University Vice-Chancellor Rishiram Kattel, Rajarshi Janak University Vice-Chancellor Shyam Narayan Labh, Pokhara University Vice-Chancellor Devendra Adhikari and Purbanchal University Vice-Chancellor Sujan Babu Marhatta.
On the occasion, Minister Pokharel directed the university to conduct its affairs in a fair, independent, professional and transparent manner. 'Everyone, work in a way that will make history during your term, you will have the full support of the government and the ministry. "Do not be pressured by anyone and carry out your responsibilities professionally," he said.
Minister Pokharel also gave necessary instructions to make 10 percent scholarship mandatory in all universities and possible affiliated campuses in a transparent manner and to remove trade union banners from universities and campuses.
Secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers Kiran Raj Sharma expressed confidence that the newly appointed vice-chancellors will play an important role in the overall reform of the education sector.
After taking the oath, the newly appointed vice-chancellors pledged to work fearlessly and honestly while maintaining the reputation and dignity of the university. They expressed confidence that the vice-chancellor selection process through open competition by the government has boosted their morale and will work as promised. A recommendation committee was formed under the chairmanship of Education Minister and University Pro-Chancellor Pokharel to recommend the name of the vice-chancellor. The committee formed another sub-committee under the leadership of experts and selected the vice-chancellor.
