The Ministry of Education and Sports has formed a three-member committee to investigate the possible involvement of ministry employees in the forged letters and documents submitted for study visa recommendations.

The committee has been formed under the coordination of the ministry's joint secretary Chandrakant Bhusal as per the ministerial decision. The committee members include the ministry's deputy secretary (law) Gopikrishna Regmi and branch officer Gunaraj Bhattarai.

The committee has been mandated to conduct necessary investigations into the role and responsibilities of the ministry employees related to the incident and submit a report within seven days, the ministry said. The committee will also study the involvement of employees in the study visa recommendation process, the status of document verification and procedural weaknesses.

According to the ministry, the investigation process was initiated after it was found that the letters and documents submitted in the name of Valmiki Vidyapeeth regarding the study visa recommendation were forged. On the same basis, the ministry has already requested the concerned bodies not to proceed with further visa-related processes for foreign nationals who were recommended earlier.

The ministry has also clarified that it is taking this incident seriously, which is linked to the credibility of the study visa system, and that further administrative and legal decisions will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.

Earlier, it had written to the Ministry of Home Affairs after it was suspected that suspicious documents and fake receipts were used in the study visa recommendation process. The ministry has stated that it is taking this incident as a serious matter related to the credibility of the study visa system and that necessary administrative and legal decisions will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
