The Selection and Recommendation Committee has started studying the applications of a total of 218 candidates for the vacant post of Vice Chancellor of eight different universities.

The Selection and Recommendation Committee under the Ministry of Education and Sports had called on interested and eligible candidates to apply for the appointment of Vice Chancellor on April 25. According to the notification, the maximum number of 50 people have applied for the post of Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University.

The ministry has stated that 38/38 people have applied for Purbanchal University and Pokhara University, 19 for Sudurpaschim University, 20 for Madhyapaschim University, 11 for Lumbini Buddhist University, 15 for Agriculture and Forestry University, and 27 for Rajarshi Janak University. The committee has prepared to start the selection process by studying the documents of the applicants and publishing the list of approved candidates.

The ‘Integrated Procedure for Selection and Recommendation of Vice Chancellors of Various Universities, 2083’ approved on April 24 was approved. The process of new appointments has begun after the removal of officials from various universities under the special ordinance regarding the removal of officials from public bodies issued by the President on the recommendation of the Government of Nepal.

A committee comprising Education Minister Sasmit Pokharel, Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Sports Chudamani Poudel, and relevant experts from the respective universities has been formed for the selection.
