The new academic session is officially starting today. As per the government's decision, the school-level academic session has been started from every Baisakh 15.
In the past, the academic session used to start from Baisakh 2, but in order to stop the admission process of private schools before the annual exams were completed and in the situation of difficult fuel supply, it was decided to start admission to schools from Baisakh 15. However, with the facilitation of some local levels, students have been admitted before Baisakh 15.
The government had issued instructions on Chaitra 22 to refund the admission and other fees being charged in private (institutional) schools against the law.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology had requested all the concerned local levels to initiate legal proceedings to refund the admission fees charged against the law and other fees other than those prescribed by the Institutional School Fee Determination Criteria Directive, 2072.
The Supreme Court had issued an interim order to schools not to publish the admission notices when the results of the annual examination of students have not been published and the academic session has not started and the required original certificates including the mark sheets have not been received as per Rule 78 (1) (c) of the Education Regulations, 2059 BS. A single bench of Justice Bal Krishna Dhakal had ordered that the student admission process should be conducted after the academic session has started as per the Education Regulations, 2059 BS. Earlier, the academic session had been conducted from every Baisakh 20.
The order mentioned that coordination should be maintained between the examination results, academic session and the required certificates. The court directed the concerned bodies to act in accordance with the prevailing law and also ordered the respondent to submit a written reply within 15 days.
In the notice published on Chaitra 20 by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the Education Development and Human Resource Development Center, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur, it was directed to conduct the admission program only after the annual examination is completed and the results are published and the new academic session 2083 BS begins.
