The government has warned of strict action against schools that enroll students before the start of the academic session and charge irregular fees.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology issued a press release on Sunday, directing all local levels to enroll students only after the start of the new academic session and to implement the Institutional School Fee Determination Criteria Directive, 2072. The ministry has also directed local levels to immediately initiate legal proceedings to return the illegally collected admission fees to parents.
'All schools are requested to enroll students only after the start of the new academic session as per the mentioned legal provisions and the order of the Supreme Court and to make arrangements not to collect fees other than those stipulated in the Institutional School Fee Determination Criteria Directive, 2072 and to initiate legal proceedings to return the admission fees collected illegally from parents to the concerned without allowing such illegal activities from any school,' the press release issued by the Ministry's Joint Secretary and Spokesperson Shiv Kumar Sapkota stated.
The new academic session is starting from Baisakh 15. The Supreme Court had ordered not to collect fees before the start of the academic session two days ago.
