The government has announced the establishment of model schools for children with autism in all seven provinces.

On the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day (April 2), a meeting of ministers, secretaries of other ministries and representatives of stakeholders announced the establishment of one autism-based model school in each of the seven provinces in a program organized in coordination with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology on Thursday.

Minister for Education, Science and Technology Sasmit Pokharel informed that the government is going to establish autism model schools with the aim of providing easy, simple and effective services to children with autism.

A plan to operate well-equipped residential schools for children with autism and intellectual disabilities in each province was made public in a program chaired by Education Minister Pokharel and attended by Health and Population Minister Nisha Mehta.

The government has decided to coordinate among various ministries to carry out this work effectively. It is said that a technical committee has been formed to prepare a concept paper for that.
