The government has formed a recommendation committee under the chairmanship of Public Service Commission Chairman Madhav Prasad Regmi to appoint the chairman of the board. The committee has stated that 13 people have applied for the post of chairman. The applicants include professors from Tribhuvan University, former administrators of the Ministry of Education and former officials of the board.
Applications have been received from Jagat Krishna Pokharel of Morang, Rajendra Kumar Pokharel of Dang, Baburam Khanal of Arghakhanchi, Ramchandra Pandey of Tanahun, Durga Prasad Aryal of Bardaghat Susta West. Similarly, applications have been received from Tulsiram Bhandari of Gulmi, Pushparaj Joshi of Dadeldhura, Ghanashyam Thakur of Rautahat, Krishna Prasad Acharya of Lalitpur, Achyut Gyawali of Arghakhanchi, Laxmi Ram Poudel of Tanahun, Bhojraj Sharma Kafle of Syangja and Rajendra Prasad Chapagain of Syangja, the committee has stated.
The Ministry of Education has started the appointment process after the completion of the 4-year term of Chairman Mahashram Sharma. The committee has stated that it will publish a shortlist from the applicants and proceed with the remaining process. The committee includes former secretary Devkumari Guragain and professor Rameshwor Adhikari of Tribhuvan University as members. The committee says that the appointment will be recommended based on the applicants' concept paper, professional action plan, and interview along with their presentation evaluation. The board has been conducting and managing the Class 12 and SEE exams.
