Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said that all parties should make efforts to make the university a place for academic debate. Speaking at the 51st convocation of Tribhuvan University, Prime Minister Karki, who is also the Chancellor, emphasized the need to increase investment in education for the development of the country.

'The aspiration for change in the country's higher education sector is natural, so it needs to be freed from party politics,' said Prime Minister Karki. 'Understanding that party interference in educational administration has continuously affected Nepal's higher education sector, the need to revise the system of the Prime Minister being the Chancellor of the university has been realized. Serious consultations and homework are being done on this issue.'

Chancellor Karki said that the university has stood at a very important juncture in its life and has given formal completion to an educational journey.'

'We have to face challenges related to issues such as rapid technological change, job competition, climate change, social inequality, moral dilemmas and global uncertainty. I am confident that you, graduates of Tribhuvan University, will be able to make meaningful contributions to human development and world brotherhood while facing such challenges,' said Prime Minister Karki. 'But a large structure and size alone do not ensure quality and international-level education. I see the need for all parties, including professors, students, and management, to be more active in maintaining the right professor-student ratio and publishing high-quality research materials.'

He urged those concerned to pay sufficient attention to the issue of adding new and practical educational programs in line with the times while maintaining excellence in educational quality, while a large proportion of Nepali students are going abroad for higher education.
