The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a case in the Special Court today against Devi Niraula, a teacher at Dipini Basic School in Damak Municipality-5, Jhapa, on charges of presenting a fake educational certificate and becoming a teacher.

According to the commission, Niraula had obtained appointment as a primary school teacher in the school by submitting a secondary school examination certificate issued by the Bihar Sanskrit Education Board, Patna, India. During the investigation, the certificate was confirmed to be fake and forged, informed commission spokesperson Rajendra Kumar Poudel.

The commission stated that Niraula was appointed temporarily in 2055 BS and was appointed permanently on 28 Chaitra 2075 BS and has been working in the same school till now. The commission has filed a case seeking imprisonment and fine under Section 12 of the previous Prevention of Corruption Act, 2017 and Sub-section (1) of Section 16 of the prevailing Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059 BS, finding that she had received government service, salary, allowances and other facilities on the basis of fake educational qualifications.
