School Education Bill will come soon: Education Minister Pant

In today's meeting of the National Assembly, Minister of Education, Science and Technology Raghuji Pant clarified that the government has not stopped the school education bill and it will be presented soon.

Responding to the questions raised on the title related to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology under the 'Appropriation Bill, 2082', Minister Pant informed that the bill has been postponed for a few days as it seems that there is a need to reach an agreement on some issues.

According to the agreement with the Federation of Teachers, the deadline for the presentation of the bill was set by the 15th of June. He said that the school education bill has been advanced to cover the agreements made at different times.

According to the nine-point agreement reached with the Federation of Teachers last time, some issues have been addressed and the bill has been advanced based on that, he informed. He said that most of those points are included in the budget of the next financial year.

According to Minister Pant, most attention has been focused on this because not only the teachers but the country and the people will win when this bill comes.

As the education sector is important for the development and progress of the country, he informed that the highest budget has been allocated to this sector for the next financial year. According to him, Rs 2 trillion 11 billion budget has been allocated in the education sector. Similarly, the Ministry of Urban Development has allocated Rs 7.47 billion for the reconstruction of schools. He clarified that this sector is the highest priority of the government.

He claims that there is no imbalance because the education budget is spent by the local level. He said that the environment of allocating 20 percent more budget to education will gradually be created.

Mentioning that there is a need to recruit new manpower to improve the education sector, Minister Pant informed that according to the agreement with the federation, 60 percent internal and 40 percent recruitment on the basis of open competition has been included in the bill.

He said that adequate budget has been allocated for free education in the next financial year, programs including mid-day meals have been moved forward and necessary initiatives have been started to bring private investment schools under the scope of regulation.

Education Minister Pant mentioned that the government is seriously engaged in educational reform and educational environment in the country.
