A deputy professor of Prithvi Narayan Campus, Pokhara under Tribhuvan University has been taken into action after caste discrimination against students. Campus Head Dr. Hariprasad Pathak on Tuesday Vice Professor Dr. Devi Lal Sharma has been removed as the head of management research department.
Dr. Sharma on Monday threatened student Aman Pariyar with insulting words after an argument broke out while on an educational observation tour for MBA Finance. After this, the aggrieved students put their demand before the campus administration that action should be taken against Vice Professor Sharma. Regarding this incident, independent student union, Aneraswaviyu, Dalit Student Society, Terai Kanun Student Association drew the attention of the campus head. After learning about the
incident, the campus head Pathak handed over a letter to Sharma that he was removed from the responsibility of the head of management research department due to special circumstances. Dr. who became the head of the department on May 26. Sharma's responsibility was removed within 5 days.
The students demand that Deputy Professor Sharma should be dismissed not only from the departmental responsibility. President of Dalit Students' Association Amrit Vick said that it is objectionable that incidents of caste discrimination occur frequently in educational places. Dr. He demanded that Sharma should be dismissed.
If the campus administration did not show caution in recommending the expulsion, Swaviyu Secretary Birat Duwadi said that Swaviyu will take this issue seriously. The campus head could not expel him because he was a permanent member of the university. If the campus does not recommend to the center, SWVU will proceed seriously, he said.
