Kathmandu University (KU) Professors' Union has warned of agitation if the vice-chancellor is not appointed within three days.

Chairman Dr. Development officer and general secretary Tejeshman Shakya issued a statement on Thursday and gave a deadline for appointing a new vice-chancellor with a warning.

'We sincerely appeal to the Kathmandu University Professors' Association to finalize the necessary process within three days and elect a new vice-chancellor and complete the work,' the statement reads, 'In the event that a new vice-chancellor is not appointed within that period, the Kathmandu University Professors' Association will be forced to decide the programs of the movement in a phased manner.

Within the procedure of appointing the vice-chancellor, the association has also requested that a person who understands the problems of professors, staff and students, who can raise resources, and who has high academic ability to make the university international, should be appointed as the vice-chancellor. According to the Association, due to the delay in the appointment of the new Vice-Chancellor, activities such as inconsistency, fabricated rhetoric and disputes are taking place inside and outside the university and the academic environment is clouded by it.
