Education, Science and Technology Minister Vidya Bhattarai has said that she is trying to free the education sector from the influence of political parties.

Stating that he intends to address all issues in the education sector and to make basic education compulsory as per the constitution, he informed that he is preparing to hand over the conduct of Secondary Education Examination (SEE) to the provinces.

'Now we are preparing to form a national examination board so that the exams of class 10 and 12 will be conducted by the same body and transfer the responsibility of conducting the exam of class 10 to the respective provinces,' she added.

Similarly, she said that the government is working to maintain local production and quality in school lunches. Minister Bhattarai also gave the information that an action plan has been drawn up till the year 2083 for this. She also said that the implementation of free education is going to be started from the next budget by canceling the fee charged for registration, late fee and certificate. 

She expressed her commitment that 59 campuses and 900 educational consulting organizations that are conducting educational programs in relation to foreign universities will be regulated. According to Minister Bhattarai, in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Health, teaching materials related to infectious diseases and reproductive health have been made compulsory in schools. The work done at home under the guidance of the parents will also be evaluated as a learning achievement. Nepal Science and Technology Academy, Methodology Laboratory and BP Koirala Memorial Planetarium, Observatory and Science Museum Development Committee are doing homework to achieve high returns by increasing their capacity.
