The Nepal-German Chamber of Commerce and Industries has brought artists and businessmen together on the same platform at its annual general meeting with the message that "painting is not just a matter of beauty, it is a powerful medium that can be linked to business value and brand identity."

The collaboration between art and business was embodied through live painting at the chamber's 30th and 31st annual general meetings held at Hotel Radisson in Lazimpat, Kathmandu on Monday. In the

program, 12 artists, including senior artist Kiran Manandhar, painted shapes on canvas.

Watching artist Kiran's creative process closely, Nepal-German Chamber of Commerce President Santosh Chandra Kunwar and artist Anita Bhattarai said that they are taking the lead in how art and business can be connected to each other. President Kunwar said that by connecting the corporate sector with art, art will be promoted towards professionalism. According to Anita Bhattarai, who coordinated the art program for the

program, this program was launched to make entrepreneurs feel the value of artists' hard work and creativity. Only if entrepreneurs start loving artists' art can the art market become sustainable.

Chairman Kunwar said that collaboration between art and business is necessary and informed that for the first time, an environment for workshops and art sales has been created by involving artists in the general meeting of the chamber.

He said, ‘Art connects the business sector with social and cultural responsibility, therefore, it is necessary to commercialize art.’ Artist Kiran Manandhar, who is also the former chancellor of the Academy of Fine Arts, said that while painting live, the audience got the opportunity to understand the color, canvas and creation process closely.

He said, ‘Live painting plays a big role in understanding the value and hard work of the artist as the audience can observe it directly.’ Businessman Rajiv Mangal Joshi mentioned that it is also the responsibility of the business community to protect the country’s artists and artwork. Chamber General Secretary Alex Lal Moktan informed that there are plans to increase the participation of art in other programs of the chamber in the coming days.

Along with Kiran Manandhar, artists including Chirag Bangdel, DB Rai, Sagar Manandhar, Prabhat Shrestha, Bibhushan Tamrakar, Om Gurung, Bikukumar Thapa, Man Gurung, Mangal Prajapati, Subash Khadka, Shyam Phuyal and Yugdas Manandhar filled the canvas with colors in the on-site painting workshop.
