Four generations of portraits in the gallery

The art exhibition of four generations started on Friday at 108 Gallery on Darbarmarg.

The paintings of four generations of the same family, Anandmuni Shakya, Siddhimuni Shakya, Surendraman Shakya and Priya Shakya, are exhibited. Old colors are used in paintings based on Buddhist philosophy.

Anand Muni started painting on cloth full of archaeological significance while visiting Tibet. He learned painting from the age of 19. His art made from natural mineral colors are also exhibited.  Four generations of portraits in the gallery

The third generation artist Surendraman says that the Newar community uses themes based on Buddhist philosophy to create Pauba pictures by mixing different colors on cloth. He said that since its construction work is complicated, it should be protected from extinction. "We came here by understanding and learning the art taught by our grandfather," he said.

Sugat Shakya, the founder of 108 Gallery, said that the creation of Paubha paintings is complicated and difficult to sell if they are not prioritized in the market. He said that various sectors including the media will play a role in increasing interest and preservation of such artefacts. 24 paintings have been placed in the

exhibition, while paper notes and painting materials, which have been published for the first time, are also included. The exhibition will last for a month. (trainees)
