Senior folk singer and composer Purushottam Neupane has resounded in the Pokhara hall with his songs. On Friday, Neupane sang one and a half dozen songs in the 'Purushottam Neupane Sangeet Samnjah' organized by the National Folk and Dual Song Institute of Nepal.
In the musical evening, Neupane sang 18 songs including 'Sarar Panighattama', 'Aina Herer', 'Runch Ni Mann Kin Runain'.
2066 Chait 22, 'Purushottam Neupane Single Evening' was held at Pokhara Auditorium. Exactly 15 years later, Purushottam passed away at the same place. A documentary on his biography was also shown in the program. The foundation also honored him today.
Neupane, who was born in Syangja in 2029, has managed to create a proud history in the field of Nepali folk music. Neupane, who has been in Nepali folk music for three and a half decades, has recorded more than a thousand songs. Purushottam started his musical journey in the year 2046 by singing the song of Balam Devithan Bol. The president of the foundation, Rita Thapamgar, informed that the musical evening was organized with the aim of honoring the veteran artists and preserving folk art as part of the
annual program. The foundation had organized 'Narayan Rayamazhi Sangeet Samanj 2080' last year. The foundation plans to present a renowned folk singer every year. The chief guest of the
program, Nepal government spokesperson and minister of information and communication, Prithvisubba Gurung said that people will be happy only if the society can be civilized through song, art and literature. Neupane, who is also the former central president of
foundation, is currently working as a program officer at Radio Nepal Regional Broadcasting Office Pokhara.
The National Folk and Dual Song Institute was established in 058 with the aim of preserving, promoting and promoting folk music and has been active in the field of Nepali folk songs, music and folk art.
Currently, the foundation has 7 provincial committees, 1 Kathmandu Valley coordination committee, 77 district level committees and branch committees in 10 countries.
