Exhibition of photographs taken by Tony Hagan at Jiri

The exhibition of photographs of Nepal from seven decades ago, taken by Swiss geologist Tony Hagan, has started on Saturday. The exhibition held in Jiri Municipality of Dolakha will last for five days.

Dr. Hagan's daughter inaugurated the photo exhibition organized by Tony Hagan Foundation and Jiri Municipality. Katrin Hagan did . After viewing the photos in the exhibition, Jiri municipality expressed its happiness that the late Hagan was remembered. 

Mitra Jirel, the mayor of Jiri municipality, recalled that the people of Switzerland and the government had great support in the development of Jiri and said that there is a close relationship between Switzerland and Jiri. 

Tek Zirel, a local intellectual and former principal of Jiri Secondary School, said that Tony Hagan played an important role in introducing Jiri to the world and bringing Swiss support to Jiri's development. The exhibition will be conducted till February 14.

Dr. who is also an orthopedic specialist. Katrin Hagen will participate in a free health camp at Jiri Hospital on February 13th and 14th.

Switzerland has supported the development of Jiri since 2013. There was Swiss support for the establishment of a cheese factory, a cow genetic breeding center, a hospital and the development of commercial agriculture in Jiri. Later, Switzerland helped in the establishment and operation of Jiri Technical College, the construction of the airport in Jiri and the construction of the long-distance-Jiri road.

Tony Hagan came to Nepal for the first time in 2004 at the invitation of Mohan Shamsher to help in the development of Nepal. After the

, he spent a long time visiting various places in Nepal as a representative of the United Nations and as an employee of the Nepalese government.

The documentary 'Uhileko Nepal' of the old photos taken by him is available on YouTube . Similarly, books written by him like 'Nepal', 'Decentralization and Development', 'Nepalma Mero Khojatra' and others have been published.
