A photo exhibition titled 'Women in Public Life: An Initiative for Feminist Memory' has started in Birgunj from Friday under the auspices of Nepal Picture Library. The exhibition which started in the courtyard of Trijuddha Mavi in Birganj will continue till Sunday.
According to Diwasraja KC, manager of the library, the exhibition will be made nationwide starting from Birganj. The exhibition aims to preserve and disseminate the feminist history of Nepal through
visual archives, oral history and community engagement. "Through the exhibition, the contribution of Nepali women in public life is to establish their historical importance in Nepali society," KC said. will provide a common platform to collect and remember the contribution of women.'' It also includes photos of women leaders like Mangaladevi, Sahna Pradhan, Ashtalakshmi Shakya during the underground era. Images of ordinary Nepali women have also been given equal acceptance. In the exhibition, there are 5 categories of photographs, namely "Women among the people", "Light under the nose", "Women's composition", "The world swaying", and "Women's women". Stating that various workshops, discussions and community dialogues will also be held along with the
exhibition, the organizer expects this to play an important role in advancing the understanding of feminist history. In the first phase, Janakpur after Virgunj, in the second phase, Bardia, Nepalgunj, in the third phase, Pokhara, Baglung and Palpa, in the fourth phase, Dang, Rolpa, in the fifth phase, Ilam, Jhapa, in the sixth phase, Biratnagar, Dharan and Bhojpur, and in the seventh phase, the exhibition will be organized in Butwal, Bharatpur and Hetounda. told In the exhibition, it was published in the form of a book in the year 2080, starting with the initiative of creating documents and archives of Nepal Picture Library in 2075. The exhibition has so far traveled to various national and international locations including Kathmandu, New Delhi and Kochi in India, Istanbul in Turkey, Singapore and Breda in the Netherlands.
