Sharjeel Inam Memon, senior minister of Pakistan's Sindh province, said that about 1.6 million people in 1,657 villages of the province may be affected due to floods.
Addressing the media on Saturday, he informed that the provincial government has mobilized all the mechanisms and is adopting preventive measures for possible crisis management. He mentioned that the ministers are directly on the spot and the district officials are actively involved.
With his warning, many areas of Punjab have been flooded . At least 30 people have died and more than 1.5 million have been affected.

In Sindh, 551 places have been designated by the government for relief camps and 192 rescue boats have been kept in readiness.
According to Memon, if the water level rises further, about 273,000 families of 167 union councils may be affected. He informed that flood water may reach Sindh from September 2 to 3.
Memon also disclosed the current condition of the barrages . According to him, Guddu barrage is releasing 3 lakh 51 thousand cusec, Sukkur 2 lakh 89 thousand cusec and Kotri 2 lakh 51 thousand cusec of water . The capacity of these barrages is 12 lakh, 9 lakh and 6 lakh cusec respectively. He said that the situation is stable at present and if there is no heavy rain in the coming days, the situation is expected to remain under control.
Mentioning that the urban centers are not at immediate risk, Minister Memon asked the people not to panic unnecessarily. He also clarified that there is no emergency situation in which the help of the army has to be taken as the provincial government is capable by itself.
He informed that the residents of Kutch (River) area have been warned about the risk. According to him, the people there are generally aware of the behavior of the river water, so when the water rises, they voluntarily go to a safe area or stay with their relatives .
About 300 camps have been set up for cattle and 15 districts along the river have been closely monitored, he said.
'Pakistan is one of the countries most affected by climate change . There should never be any kind of construction inside the river bank', he warned, adding that the information about the flow and outflow of water in the barrage will be made public every three hours.
