Shivnath Rural Municipality of Baitadi has been declared a fully institutionalized maternity ward.

For a municipality to be fully institutionalized, 90 percent of pregnant women in the municipality must have regular prenatal checkups, at least 95 percent must have delivered at a health facility, and there must be zero home deliveries. The municipality was declared fully institutionalized on Sunday after meeting all these criteria.

Shivnath Rural Municipality Health Branch Chief Narendra Mahata said that 90.7 percent of pregnant women in all wards of the municipality have undergone four prenatal checkups, and 100 percent of those who deliver at a health facility are trained human resources.

Rural Municipality Chairman Karnasingh Saund said that everyone should join hands to maintain the success of all pregnant women in the municipality going to health facilities and giving birth safely. He said that efforts are being made to improve the overall health situation by reducing the maternal and newborn mortality rate to zero.
