The competition is expected to help expand sports activities in the hilly districts as well.
The Provincial Sports Council has stated that men's and women's volleyball, kabaddi, karate, taekwondo and athletics will be held under the three-day competition starting Thursday. The district headquarters area has witnessed increased activity due to players and coaches coming from outside the district.
At the inauguration of the competition, Provincial Sports Council Member Secretary Lok Bahadur Khadka said that sports activities could be effectively conducted across the province if the government allocates just one percent of the overall budget for the sports sector.
Far Western Province Policy and Planning Commission member Sher Bahadur Bhandari said that cooperation between the local and provincial governments is necessary to protect and encourage sports talent.
