A motorcycle accident occurred when a tiger attacked a motorcycle near the Beldandi-2 Camp Checkpost on the Daiji-Beldandi road section under the Postal Highway within the Shuklaphanta National Park area of Kanchanpur. Four people, including a family, were injured in the accident.
According to the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, a motorcycle (S.P.P. 01-009 Pa 7630) heading from Daiji to Beldandi within the Shuklaphanta National Park area was suddenly attacked by a tiger at around 8:15 pm on Tuesday night. After the tiger attack, the motorcycle overturned on the road, injuring four people including the driver.
The injured motorcycle driver is Birendra Thagunna, a resident of Ratanpur, Belauri Municipality-9. Police have said that his right leg, both hands and various parts of his body were injured. His condition is said to be normal. Similarly, his wife Kalpana Thagunna, who was riding the motorcycle, suffered injuries to her head, face and both legs. Her condition is said to be moderate.
Their 2-year-old 6-month-old son Riyans Thagunna sustained injuries to his head and face in the accident and is in moderate condition. Similarly, his niece Aarushi Sahu, 14, a resident of Khairabasti, Bhimdatta Municipality-15, who was riding the motorcycle, sustained injuries to her head, face and hands and is unconscious, according to the police.
All four injured were taken to Mahakali Provincial Hospital, Mahendranagar for treatment. Police said they have been referred to Maya Metro Hospital in Dhangadhi for further treatment.
