The development expenditure of the Sudurpaschim Province government for the current fiscal year has reached only 21 percent till April.
Out of the capital expenditure of Rs 19.83 billion, Rs 8.556 billion, only Rs 4.177 billion has been spent in 10 months. Rs 15.66 billion, Rs 12.16 billion of the development expenditure is left over in two months.
37.92 percent has been spent till April. According to the Office of the Provincial Controller of Accounts, out of the Rs 13.60 billion, Rs 6.642 billion allocated for the current, Rs 5.162 billion has been spent, while Rs 8.446 billion remains to be spent.
Out of the total budget of Rs 33.432 billion, Rs 9.333 billion, Rs 3.622 billion (27.91 percent) has been spent till April. Minister of State for Economic Affairs Prakash Bahadur Bam said that payments will be expedited in Asaram as the work on the projects is underway.
The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development, which has the highest capital budget of Rs 14.71 billion 63 million 23 thousand, has spent only Rs 3.41 billion 95 million 28 thousand (23 percent) and the current budget of Rs 30.60 billion 74 thousand (50 percent). The ministry had spent only Rs 2.65 billion 94 million 12 thousand (18 percent) and the current budget of Rs 27.67 million 17 thousand (46 percent) till Chaitra.
The provincial government's plans have not been able to spend on development expenditure due to lack of timely contracts, while the ministries have stated that despite spending on salary and allowances, the budget allocated to economic sectors including agriculture, health, education, tourism, and industry has not been spent.
In the Far West, in the last fiscal year 081/82, 26 percent of the budget allocated for capital expenditure (4 billion 866 million 9 million 35 thousand rupees) was spent till April, while 44 percent of the budget allocated for current expenditure (5 billion 605 million 35 million 59 thousand rupees) was spent.
