Shuklaphanta National Park in Kanchanpur has received 2,634 tourists in the first six months of the current fiscal year. Of these, 1,629 are men and 1,05 are women, according to the park office. Similarly, the number of domestic tourists visiting the park is 2,278. In addition, 244 tourists, including 49 women and 195 men, from SAARC countries, and 112 tourists, including 49 women and 63 men, from outside, informed Purushottam Wagle. During this period, the highest number of tourists, 621, visited the park in Chaitra. 580 tourists visited the park in Kartik, 293 in Mangsir, 376 in Poush, 369 in Magh and 386 in Falgun. 14,67,486 in revenue was collected from tourism, said Wagle.

This park, rich in biodiversity, rare wildlife and a peaceful environment, has become a favorite among tourists. Although the number of foreign tourists visiting the park has decreased slightly after the Covid pandemic, the number has been increasing in recent years.  'This park, which is the largest grassland in Nepal, is home to various plants, from leopards, deer and rare wildlife. Domestic and foreign tourists come here to study and observe the area with natural beauty and biodiversity,' Wagl said.

According to the park's statistics, 3,762 people visited the park in 2080/81, including 132 foreigners and 112 tourists from SAARC countries. Out of 3,322 people who visited the park in 2081/82, 199 of them were from SAARC countries and 152 from other countries.

Kanchanpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Dinesh Malla said that Shuklaphanta National Park is a favorite among tourists because of its large grasslands and the ability to observe many rare wildlife species in a small area. 'By promoting Shuklaphanta, a significant number of tourists can be attracted here. There has not been extensive publicity about the biodiversity here. Now everyone should cooperate in the promotion,' he said.

Shuklaphanta National Park, spread over an area of 305 square kilometers, is famous for its bison. There are more than 2,323 bison in the park.
