A young man was stabbed to death with a sharp weapon during a wedding ceremony in Punarbas, Kanchanpur.
An unknown group attacked 18-year-old Ujjwal Sayar of Punarbas Municipality Ward No. 5, Bhanubasti, on Monday night.
The incident took place around 1:30 am. The seriously injured Sayar was taken to Maya Metro Hospital in Dhangadhi for treatment. He died during treatment at around 2:30 am, according to the police.
The police have intensified the investigation after the incident. According to Kanchanpur Police Chief Superintendent of Police Khadak Khatri, two people suspected of being involved in the incident have been taken into custody and are being questioned.
Police said that further investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident and identify the other people involved. Such a heinous incident that took place at a social event like a wedding at the local level has spread panic. The police have claimed that the culprits will be brought to justice soon.
