Minister for Education, Science and Sports Sasmit Pokharel has said that medical education will be started at the Shahid Dasharath Chand Health Sciences University Geta from the upcoming academic session at any cost. Minister Pokharel said that education and health are high priority areas of the government and that this university is a special priority in the Far West where there is no medical university till now. The Prime Minister has also directed that there should be no financial shortfalls. The Finance Ministry is also positive about this, said Minister Pokharel. After the meeting of the Shahid Dasharath Chand Health Sciences University Assembly on Wednesday, he said that the government is preparing to provide the necessary resources, infrastructure and policy support to the university. According to the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Dr. Sunil Kumar Joshi, 50 MBBS, 30 Nursing, 20 Lab Technology and 20 BSc Optometry seats will be taught. He also said that a 300-bed teaching hospital will be started.
